A few months before it opens, what is your view on the 2017 edition of EQUIP AUTO?
Our first achievement is that all major distribution organizations will be present. This is already a formidable result because it has not been the case for a number of years. So the FEDA’s activities will have a greater reach than ever! And secondly: the presence of all major equipment manufacturers will inevitably make automotive aftersales players want to come to EQUIP AUTO. Finally, there’s the fact that Jacques Mauge, President of the FIEV and the EQUIP AUTO fair, decided to bring the show back to the Porte de Versailles in the heart of Paris. This is a good omen for the success of this 2017 edition of EQUIP AUTO.
What brings the exhibition back to the Porte de Versailles?
I think interactions will be more fluid with our members and repairers because the show will be more accessible and its location is more attractive. There are agreements between the organizers of the show and various Parisian venues such as the 58 Tour Eiffel restaurant, the Lido, the Crazy Horse and the Parisian boats, which will allow exhibitors and visitors to benefit from special rates. It’s likely that many distributors will organize enjoyable excursions during EQUIP AUTO.
What exciting activities will you have on offer?
We renewed our partnership with EQUIP AUTO in order to organize a competition that should motivate distributors by rewarding those who bring the most repairers to the show. There will even be iPads to win every day at the FEDA booth. We will also organize meetings between exporting distribution companies and Business France business representatives. And we will be alongside the Eco-Maintenance association to insist on its deployment with distributors and repairers.
Is this the main topic of communication for you?
Yes, we want to promote an eco-friendly approach, in fact FEDA was the initiator of this under the impetus of our former President Michel Vilatte. We know that the connected vehicle is also a key trend, but the way this technology is going to be deployed is not yet clear. For me, this subject will be the focus of EQUIP AUTO 2019.
What do you expect from this 2017 edition?
The main pillars of the FEDA are social cohesion, collective bargaining, regulation, training, lobbying, and distribution groups. So our first objective will be to share the benefits of everything that a professional federation can bring by tapping into these pillars.
The message we want to convey will be the following: independent distribution companies need a strong federation to not only defend them on a daily basis by providing them with services and solutions, but also to represent them at the French and European institutional level.
