Against a backdrop of upturn in vehicle production, sales by French automotive equipment suppliers climbed to €17.9 billion in 2010, up by 14.1% on 2009.

However, on December 31 2010, the industry employed a workforce of 88,000, down by 9%.
Exports, accounting for 51% of all French sales, were up by 15.2% compared with 2009.
At the end of 2010, the trade balance of the automotive equipment business showed a surplus of €2.5 billion, up by 32% year on year.
As the first half of 2011 draws to a close, business is bright for equipment suppliers who have, to date, posted an 8% increase in sales.
